Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia had surgery on his balky right knee on Tuesday morning, the team said.

The procedure was considered routine and Sabathia is expected to be healthy for spring training, the Yankees said.

General manager Brian Cashman said the 36-year-old was planning to have the procedure and that it was considered a “clean up” of the degenerative condition of the cartilage of his knee.]

Sabathia has controlled the injury’s pain by using a large brace on the knee when he pitches. It helped the former ace have a turn around season in 2016. In 30 starts — his most since 2013 — Sabathia posted a 3.91 ERA and went 9-12.

The knee limited Sabathia to just eight starts in 2014 and hampered him throughout a terrible 2015 campaign. Starlin Castro Jersey

The Yankees owe Sabathia $25 million next season — the last of his deal. The team expects him to leave spring training as one of its five starting pitchers.

The only other rotation locks appear to be Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda.
